Kit Review: REI Stratus Sleeping Pad

Kit review of the REI Stratus Sleeping Pad
With a middle height of around 2" (the 2.5" it claims are for the sides only), the Rei Stratus Sleeping Pad offers a comfortable night's sleep even when placed on top of gravel-sized rocks. It also has an R-Value of 2.9, which puts its insulation rating on the same level as the Neoair Trekker. Rob and I have used these sleeping pads to camp at below zero degrees Celcius (inside of a tent with sleeping bags), and were both a comfortable temperature throughout the night. Even my feet were nice and toasty and I have blood circulation problems!

Kit Review: Sony Cybershot WX350

Kit review of the sony cybershot wx350
Weighing in at only 164g and with the measurements of 25.7 x 96 x 54.9mm, the Sony Cybershot WX350 reviews very well in the size department. It's small enough to slip into the front pocket of some tight jeans (though I probably wouldn't trust it to stay there if I was going for a run) and light enough to stay there for hours without being an annoyance. However, given its price and my clumsiness and Rob's desire for me to take care of it better than I did the last one..., I always keep it in its own semi-hard case.

4 Everyday Purchases Costing You Thousands
The unfortunate thing about one’s salary is that it acts like a lady’s purse: no matter how big it is, it somehow always gets used up (even though you swear all you have in it is a few dollars and the budget book...). But it’s when we start looking at the individual items that we start to realize that we have more way money than we initially thought – we just spend it all on little everyday purchases that end up costing us thousands. For instance, did you know that the average American citizen spends $1200/year on beer? And that's not even including the price of any alcohol-related accidents that may occur on a drunken night out...

The Best Way to Snorkel With Glasses

I have terrible vision and always have as long as I can remember. I can't legally drive without wearing my glasses, which makes perfect sense given I can't see anything clearly if it's further than six inches away from my face. The common reading glasses they have in most superstores like Walmart, Target, etc. obviously don't work given how bad my eyesight is; a reason I always thought my only choice was to buy a relatively expensive pair of custom-made prescription goggles.

Being the budget traveler I am, though, I tested a few different ideas until I finally decided on...

4 Easy Tips on How to Save Up Money for Traveling
A lot of people think traveling the world is just for the rich and famous, but I'm clear evidence that that's just a bunch of lies. I too used to be a college student struggling to pay my bills with the meager paycheck I got from working a minimum wage job, but then I realized that this life wasn't for me; I wanted more. I wanted something beautiful and unknown and not just the mundane existence of chasing a career I hadn't even managed to pinpoint yet. And so I began saving up to travel the world by following these four easy tips on how, all while still paying for school, bills, and rent. Less than a year later and I was boarding a plane. And so can you.

Are You Tough Enough to Work a Ski Season?

Do you dream of working a winter season surrounded by the majestic scenery of the Alps in all of their snowy glory? Do you dream of racing down slopes inbetween shifts and living right on their very doorstep? And do you dream of horrible management that takes away your ski passes whenever you so much as cough out of line? Or firing you for simply standing up for your rights because there are so many other want-to-be workers just pining for your slot? These might be the worse case scenarios, but they are unfortunately, real possibilities. The more common scenarios, however, are more to do with the work...
